The Spinto Band

Miss-match clash, The Spinto Band is as wacky and unconventional as indie-pop can possibly be!  Their latest album 'Moonwink' breezes swiftly through such fast chorus, that you'd swear that they are on an endless sugar rush with no crash that manipulates the essence of their album.  These guys have actually been around since 97, yet still remain modestly underground.  These days there is a wide variety of diversity among indie music bands.  In all honestly despite the fact that I fall for many indie artists quickly I do have to admit that finding an artist that is truly eccentric can be difficult.  The Spinto Band is definitely uncanny and with childish talents that by far sets them apart from other artists.   Their music is filled with high energy which perfectly accents those dull and tiresome morning drives to work or school.  So skip the routine cup of coffee, and listen to a few of Spinto's tracks, and let their music inject your ears with natural caffeination!

Beach House

Complete mellow ambience at its core. This dream pop duo, Beach House, make music that soothes the nerves and eases the soul.  Their self-titled album from 06 as well as their latest album, 'Devotion' both take you on a smooth flight through serene rifts that are self-possessed and eerie.  They are the perfect band that can suit our lovesick intentions at times.  Their cool and collected sound is infused with organ, harp, and solemn drum pulses that can even penetrate the cold-hearted with warmth and spirit.  I do have to admit that you may have to be in a docile sleepy mood to fully appreciate the somber aura of their music.  Singles such as 'Apple Orchard, Wedding Bells, and Use To Be' are compositions that in my opinion are their most beautiful.  My best advice is to play their album right before bed and let your heavy lids succumb to their graceful ballads and let them aid you on your nightly journey to dreamland...

Little Joy.

Okay, so I am completely and utterly obsessed with this Los Angeles based band, Little Joy.  It has been a long while since I found an album that I can listen to repeatedly and still not be over it.  Little Joy, is literally the little dash of joy brought to my day when I pop their CD into my car.  Everything is charming about this band, from their homemade organic sound, to the sincerity each song brings.  What is most impressive about their self-titled album is the distinct diversity of each single and how each song sounds different, yet meshes well.  Despite there being talented artists out their who are skilled with arranging elaborate sounding music, sometime I appreciate music that is simple, basic, and crisp.  So embrace the Little Joy we have left in our hectic lives, and loosen up.

Of Montreal!

Okay, so who said insanity isn't a perfect element in creating decent music. Of Montreal is not insane, but their electronic funk-pop is insanely good!  Have you ever heard a band, and thought to yourself "What the heck were they ON?!"  Well these guys are the epitome of a psychedelic trip.  Lets, not deny that fact that this band is sort of an oddball in its own nature.  Their style is most definitely sort of fruity, and can be described as an interbreed of 70s glam rock and the village people.  Their kookiness perfectly accents their latest album, Skeletal Lamping, where you'll here experimental beats and catchy melodies that you can't help but sing along to. So, if you want to enter the land of psychedelia and need the perfect tracks that accentuate and intensify your 'trip' you just cannot go wrong with these guys.  Heck, just listening to them is a trip in itself, so skip the acid and save a few brain cells! :)

FLEET FOXES!

Pure...pure...pure harmonic euphoria. Over the last year Fleet Foxes, have definitely slipped into mainstream waters. Their sudden slippage is though quite well deserved hence being #11 on Rolling Stones list of top albums of the year. Their self titled album is complete bliss and whisking through symphonic cappella-type ambiance. Their classic rock-folk aesthetic can be familiarized with lyrical descriptions of the grace and admiration of rural nature. That may sound super wordy, but describing the encompassed talents of these guys is almost impossible because no words can do them justice. 'White Winter Hymnal, Blue Ridge Mountains, and He Doesn't Know Why' are intimate moments within their angelic collection of song on their latest album. Fleet Foxes=Poetry. End of story.

Lyyke Li

Music that is sophisticated and classy is not only chic, but sexy. Lykke Li has a very distinct and high pitched feminine voice that is sort of childish yet hypnotizing and sensual. This Swedish singer songwriter is definitely an indie-popper to watch out for because of her multifaceted talents. Her latest album, 'Youth Novels' is a functional clash of electro pop and soul. Singles from her album such as "I'm Good, I'm Gone, Little Bit, and Breaking It Up" are all uniquely provocative and alluring. Many artist these days rely on instruments to devise melodies for their music, while Lykke uses her own voice to build rifts that climax to pop-timistic brilliance. Check out her buzz-worthy sound that cannot fully be labeled into specific genre. It will surely leave a lasting sting.

The Mae Shi

Run..Run..Run to your grave... The Mae Shi is a band I would like to call loud and obnoxious but certainly in a positive way. Their use of simple words and lines through-out their latest album "HLLLYH" is smart and amusing. This synthpop band is truly one of those artists that can be labeled as 'out there' because they really are just bizarre, yet still a joy to listen to. Listen to their single "Run to Your Grave" and you will easily understand their whole nonchalant boy-power vibe. Yes, I did say boy power, it seems most appropriate! hah

One For the Team!

If you haven't noticed by now, I am a fan of bands that blend female and male vocals. I think the whole guy-o-gal combo gives indie music so much more style and character. One For the Team, unlike many bands with coed vocal, they ensemble together vocally as one, without solos. Their cheery indie-pop is charming and uplifting and kinda flirts with the listener. They put up a very youthful and quirky front with the music to back it up. One For the Team shows the perfect example of a small-town indie-pop band blossoming into semi-mainstream artist. Their latest album, 'Build It Up' has memorable singles such as 'Apples, Best Supporting Actor, and Build it Up.' They may not be the most original artist, but they are pleasantly quaint and you can't go wrong with that!

Margot & The Nuclear So and So's

Yes, it is that time of year again... Christmas is just around the corner and despite the stereotypical warm and joyous feelings the holidays should bring lets fact the facts, it can be a very depressing time of year for many.  Heck, even suicide rates are highest during the holiday season.  In my opinion the best form of therapy is MUSIC.  I believe that people are not only allowed, but entitled to have moments where they can socially withdraw themselves from reality and sulk in the midst of their anguish.  Margot & the Nuclear So and So's melancholy indie folk provides the perfect somber sound to aid our weathered spirits.  Their latest albums Daytrotter Session EP, Not Animal, and Animal despite their criticisms, to me all have the perfect balance of crafty lyrics and deep hooks that are mesmerizing and therapeutic.  So, if your feeling blue this holiday season I promise this band is not only mood appropriate, but could possibly and hypothetically fill the holes in your heart.  At least temporarily.

Florence & the Machine

Calling all Kate Nash and Feist fans..! Florence & the Machine is a sexed up merge between Nash and Feist. Her grindcore inspired tunage is very deep, and yea kind of dark and mysterious. One thing this girl can do is SING, her vocals are soulfully deep and very mature sounding for a 20-year-old bombshell. Her garage-bluesy sound fluctuates between being severe yet delicate. Her colorful vibrant style is posh and matches perfect with her swanky demeanor. Her cover of 'Hospital Beds' by Cold War Kids is provocatively impressive. She released a few demos such as 'Kiss With a Fist' and 'Dog Days are Over' which are both undeniable sweet. She has spunk and sass that isn't overbearing, listen and you'll understand!

Kiss With a Fist

Dog Days Are Over

Jaguar Love

As we all age and mature, so does our taste in music. But, despite all of our acquired tastes there is always a certain band or artist that we specifically love and enjoy despite how many years roll on by. In high school, I have to say that I was a HUGE Blood Brothers fan. I know, I look back on the era where the scene sprout with the grungy band t-shirt and the home sewn skinny jeans were "In" and I'm like what the heck was I thinking. Yes, we were all young and had a lack or lapse of judgment but one thing for sure that I still today do not take back was my love for the Blood Brothers. For those of you who feel me on this band, they're back..... Well not completely, Jaguar Love has our beloved Blood Brothers sound but with an indie spunk twist. The band is composed of members from 'Pretty Girls Make Graves' and 'Blood Brothers' and they have that same crazy energetic vibe that us old Blood Bros fans can relate too. Front-man from the Blood Bros, Johnny Whitney, is still waling his lungs through-out their premier album, 'Take Me to the Sea." Check them out, even if you never were a fan of the Blood Brothers. They're different, whimsically eerie, and a trip!

Greg Laswell

I first heard Greg Laswell at a Ingrid Michaelson concert almost a year ago and I was immediately impressed. He is one of artists that you are memorized by not only his handsomely scruffy appearance but every aspect of his performance. I remember when his set started, from the first note I was his. Well, not in a possessive delusional way but in a way where he had my complete attention. I even forgot at the time that I was in a dingy bar like atmosphere because when he sang along with the piano keys nothing else existed but the music. Performances like those are musical treasures that are hard to find in a pool of talent, but worth every moment seeking. His latest album, "Three Flights From Alto Nido" is really a treat. Slowly but surely he is climbing that musical mainstream ladder, and before you know it he will be at the top.

High and Low, footage from show in January of 08.
How The Day Sounds

Rachel Goodrich

On the last blog posts note, if you are a fan of Ingrid I am positive you will fall in love with Rachel Goodrich. She has a similar twinkly indie-folk sound yet she is a tad more upbeat. The unique thing about this gal, is she configured a way to stir in psychobilly with her acoustic accented music. She is truly different that a lot indie artists sprouting across the mainlands. Her latest album, "Tinker Toys" is honestly the most ridiculously charming and witty collection of songs I've heard in awhile. She uses unusual instruments through-out her album such as a kazoo as well as spoons and even pots and pans. Weird, yes but brilliant! It seems as if Rach is not afraid to break free from the array of common sounding indie artists by setting her own clever musical standards. It is youthful and I assume she will be commercialized sooner than later. Just wait, I smell a apple commercial brewing! hahaha

a reflection on Ingrid Michaelson...

I was skipping through all my old pictures and videos I have taken through-out the last year and I stumbled upon some amazing photos and footage I took from an Ingrid Michaelson show I attended at the Troubadour last January of 08. Talent is talent despite whether an artist may be mainstream or underground. Lets not deny the fact that Ingrid is successfully a break-through artist this past year, but her sudden dive into mainstream waters is well deserved and admirable. I truly think this singer-songwriter's talent should be heard, acknowledged, and loved for years to come.

Corner of Your Heart

The Mystery Jets

They are huge in the UK, but haven't blossomed yet in the states. The Mystery Jets are musically influenced by classic artists such as The Kinks, The Cure, and even the Beatles. They fused their influences' classic sound with a spiffed up modern twist. Their fashionable swagger and dynamic pop bouncy rhythm with background 'oohs and awes' is instantaneously engaging. They are full of energy and their raw powerpop meshes well with their heavy English accented vocals. Their latest album "Twenty-one," has quirky singles such as 'Half in Love with Elizabeth' and 'Young Love.' Well known and successful artists such as Kate Nash, Laura Marling are featured on a few of their tracks as well as Justice and Florence and the Machine have remixed some tracks also. If mainstream artist have noticed these British boys, then you should too!

Ever watch "Music and Lyrics" hmmm doesn't the melody sounds familiar?

Cocoon

Despite the stereotypical sound of Indie music, I have to admit that I am a fan of those cutesy pleasant trah-la-las band that are soothing to listen to. Cocoon, a two-piece band, is one of those bands that follows the standards of smooth mellow indie. Their latest album 'My Friends All Died in a Airplane Crash' is full of melodious rifts and sweet-sounding vocals that can't possible be displeasing. Songs like 'Chupee' and 'On My Way' are gorgeous and blissful. Their album sort of takes you on this dream boat that floats through cloud 9, yea that sounds weird but music has mystical effects on me at times. Just check them out they are delightfully intoxicating!

Room Eleven

Okay, so I go through music phases, and there is such a phase that is and will always remain timeless. That phase for me is jazz. I'm a dire fan of old school cabaret jazz and I hold classic artists such as Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, and Louie Armstrong close to my heart. It is hard to find artists today with that classy cabaret feel and sound until I came across Room Eleven and their latest album "Mmm Gumbo", and I have to say they give me my jazzy fix. They mastered mixing that old school sound while remaining youthful and fresh. These days it seems as if kids are into what is supposedly 'in' or 'trendy' when it comes to music, and I think it is time for cabaret jazz to make its comeback and Room Eleven could help bring back our soulful jazzy roots and bestow the appreciation of sophisticated and tasteful jazz upon our youth.

Ben Kweller

Dear ole Ben Kweller.... Yes, he has been around for awhile, but I can't help but add him to my collection of artists you have to hear because he helps me remain sane with his classic array of sentimental songs. I have to say that I'm not a fan of country music but Benny adds a tad of a soulful country feel to his folk-pop collection of songs that is functional and that I can considerably tolerate and appreciate . His ballad-type songs are uptempo and can be sort of drowned in mushy-gush but you cannot deny their lyrical beauty. Hands down, 'Sundress' and 'Thirteen' are my fave tracks on his self-titled album due to their tender appeal. I have to admit that I don't really care for his new tracks on his new EP "How Ya Lookin' Southbound? Comein..." The EP is a lot more country compared to his old albums but that's just my opinion you be the judge!

Natalie Portman's Shaved Head!!!

GaGaGaGLAM rock to the MAX!! Hence their bizarre name, Natalie Portman's Shaved Head blends electro, pop, funk, and glam rock stylishly. Their new-age trend-setting vibe is loud, vibrant, and fused with 80s style make-up and flashy attire. Teenage sex and underage social drinking with a underlying hipster clashed tone are motives behind their disco pumping beats. You can kinda describe them as a functional jumble of CSS, Gravy Train, and even the Peaches. They are loud, colorful, funky-fresh, but if I could use one word to entirely describe their sound it would be......BOMB hence their song 'Sophisticated Side Ponytail' hah!

natalie portman's shaved head - sophisticated side ponytail from thatgo on Vimeo.

Uzi & Ari

Uzi & Ari, are an experimental Electronic Indie group you can compare to The Album Leaf and even Thom Yorke. Their music twinkles and chimes through dreamy melodies. They use a wide range of different instruments from the organ and synthesizer to even the French horn. Their latest album, Head Worms, starts off slow and intimate and blooms into something big beautiful and eloquent. Vocals are somber yet pretty and yea, even spellbinding. Their videos for Mountain/Molehill and Asleep in Armor are well thought-out, creatively poetic, and pure cinematic art. If you are a fan at all of experimental mellow fusion you'll really enjoy them. They are strange, mysterious, and just bizarre at times but definitely a musical mystery worth solving.

I Was A Cub Scout

They ended as soon as the begun... I Was A Cub Scout was a short-lived synthpop band that recently split last June, but music is timeless and despite their non-existence their work still should be heard, loved, and appreciated. This two-piece band is a diamond in the rough with feminine-ish airy vocals, and synthesized electro-indie freshness. These British boys some how mastered in the short existence devising romantic lyrical verses infused with high-spirited drum solos. It is simply cute, and you can't help but eat them up. Yum.

GOOD shoes

These boys' musical indie-pop talent rise from non other than London chap! Good Shoes mixes their British indie sound with poppy catchy tunes. Their latest album, Think Before You Speak, is artistically silly and naturally caffeinated. There are never any dull moments on their albums and their constant bounciness can make you jittery as if you have been injected with sugary goodness for days. They sing songs about remaining sane in such a boring hometown, and lets face it don't we all just want to get the f*** out! Okay, alright I won't let my small town bitterness get too involved wit this music review but just enjoy their youthful brilliance. You won't be disappointed.

Lisa Hannigan

Many of you probably have heard Lisa Hannigan's angelic voice from Damien Rice. She was his back-up singer, but now she forked her independence by premiering her long awaited first solo album "Sea Sew." Her voice is naturally alluring and you can hear and see the passion in her talent through her emotionally filled performances. I always strive to find artists out there who are unique and distinct from others, and Lisa finds the balance between combining her delicate vocals with sort of an eerie flow which is different. I do have to admit that you have to been in a twisted sappy-mellow mood to listen to her melancholy indie-folk, but I'm positive all of us can be in that mood from time to time.

Ra Ra RIOT.

Instrumental constructed indie chamber-pop is Ra Ra Riot's expertise. Their vision of easy listening artistic music is inventive and different than a lot of artists out there. You could sort of compare them to a toned down Arcade Fire, yet their styles are completely different. The way they twist their mellow flow with the cello and violin is eccentric. Their most recent album, 'The Rumb Line' is delightful. They are one of those feel-good bands that you can listen to while you carrying on through-out your day. Listen to 'Too Too Fast' and 'St. Peter's Day Festival' they may not be their front-runner songs on their album but they are bouncy lyrical charms that definitely will work as mood enhancers.

St.

adorably animated!

The Morning Benders

Eclectic inspired sounds of the 60s, The Morning Benders are truly a treat. The Beatles and The Kinks are influential in sculpting these guys into the musical masterminds they are today. Their witty style and catchy rhythm makes their indie pop-rock entertaining. Their constant uptempo sound and sweet vocals and back-up 'ooos and awws' are addictive. Also the fact that they are so gosh darn cute, especially front man Chris Chu, is an addition to the package! They make making music look effortless and simple. Listen to their lastest album, 'Talking Through Tin Cans' and you won't be disappointed. So if you find yourself stuck in the 60s rock era, their short upbeat tracks will satisfy your craving!

hmmmmm... sound similar to the early Beatles.....

the THERMALS

Music with a purpose. The Thermals bust out alternative-indie music with a pop-punkish demeanor. They clearly want to be heard loud and clear and all of their music is based are issues that attribute to their lives and pretty much everyones lives nowadays like government, religion, love, and dysfunction. Yes, another band that you have to have an acquired taste for but whats independent music without diversity!? Their album 'The Body, The Blood, The Machine' is full of songs that reevaluate our existence, it's cool hah! Their power cords fused with lyrical shouts functionally bring about their identity.

Page France

Page France eloquently manifests poetry into music. They make memorable folk-pop melodies that put you at ease. Yes, this is the type of music you want to fall asleep to and dream. They are talented at combining acoustic guitar with chamber effects, and their male and female entwined vocals are sweet and alluring to your ears. It's the kind of music that makes you appreciate life despite all the shitty situations we have all been in. Their albums 'Hello, Dear Wind' and 'Come, I'm A Lion' are both warm and inviting. If you seriously want to escape reality for little while, I promise you Page France can be very therapeutic...

Port O'Brien

Port O'Brien's folk-pop fits no norm. Ok, yea I understand their music is an acquired taste but lets not deny their creative sense that you can learn to appreciate. Their anthem-ish songs kinda remind me of a drunken sing-a-long that you can't help but join. They wrote their album, All We Could Do Was Sing, while living on a fishing boat hence songs like 'Stuck on a Boat' and 'Fisherman's Son.' Their album is lively and stimulating yet you can feel the somber loneliness that is expected from the sea setting where their creative juices flowed. The highlight of their album, 'Close the Lid', is epically done from a simple melody that builds-up to anthem that anyone can live by. Listen to them once, then again, and again.... I promise you'll get it!

The anthem of my life! Take a listen...

Cajun DANCE Party!

Since I'm already in the cutsey indie band mood here is another one for ya, Cajun Dance Party! When their first single was released each band member were merely minors! Age ain't nothing but a number, and Cajun Dance Party proves that by their inventive workmanship and high energy. They keep the momentum hyped with wild enthusiasm. Their album, The Colourful Life, brings smart pop to the table. Make sure to listen to Buttercups, No Joanna, and Colourful Life. Poppy guitar chords, precocious yet keen vocals, and memorable jumpy beats are what sculpt this ridiculously adorable band into true musicians.

mumm-RA

Even though these indie-rockers called it quits, Mumm-Ra's music is still alive and kickin! Their music is all about being young and alive. Their music is never overworked or boring, and strings you along with catchy hooks. They may not be the most innovative bands around, but they mastered being simplistic and throwing out poppy beats with bubbly vocals. There are just one of them cutsey indie bands that you can't help but smile too.

Neutral Milk Hotel

A band that broke-up years ago, and is not nearly as known or appreciated as they should. Neutral Milk Hotel, is one of the most unique and classic indie-folk bands from the 90s. Their acoustic driven music is strangely appealing, and there is not doubt that there is passion and experience behind each song. If you are a fan at all of folk inspired music it is mandatory to listen to their last album from 98, In the Aeroplane Over the Sea. It is brilliantly unusual and incomparable to any other artist out there because of their use of a wide range of odd instruments. Easily one of my favorite songs of all time is 'In the Aeroplane Over the Sea'. The mastermind behind that song and the band, Jeff Mangum, explains that the Dairy of Anne Frank inspired him to eloquently put together that masterpiece. Neutral Milk Hotel music seems to involve more than just listening with your ears...

the DUKE spirit

Inspired by grunge of the late 80s and 90s like Sonic Youth and The Pixies, The Duke Spirit, gives you a taste of modern rock-n-roll and blues. They are stylish and give off the right amount of indie-garage pizazz. Liela, the band's lead vocalist, has a smooth and sultry voice that you can sort of compare to Grace Slick from Jefferson Airplane. Their new album, Neptune, puts out a beautiful collection of songs that range from serene to intense while remaining intimate and wholesome. I am obsessed with their song Sovereign, it feels as it should be the anthem of anyone who has experience unrequited love. Listen to The Step and the Walk and Lassoo I'm sure these as well as all of their songs will work its seductive charm on you!

Listen, you'll fall in LOVE...
Sovereign - The Duke Spirit

Manchester Orchestra

Do you confine in wolves at night? Well you should, Manchester Orchestra is eccentricity at its core. Their ability to entangle spiritual lyrics with strong guitar chords and variations between piano and organ ambiance is thrilling. I saw them at Coachella months back and they were amazing. I have even heard them compared to a functional mix of brand new and Ben Gibbards' melancholy tone. Some of their songs are soft and intimate while others are smart and home bound. Their album, I'm like a Virgin Losing a Child, is pure genius.. Wolves at Night, The Neighborhood is Bleeding, and I Can Barely Breath all make me tick. They just released an EP for their upcoming album coming out next year and their remake of Wolves at Night is brilliant. They are a MUST have for your daily car playlist. Their music will make you bust out with a drum solo on your stirring wheel in no time hah!

MGMT!!!!

Yea, yea, yea a tad mainstream, but come on is it just me or did that happen over night! Even though I have the habit of getting over artists who have slipped on over to the dark side (mainstream) MGMT is the shit! I'm sure ya all heard Kids, Electric Feel, and Time to Pretend on major radio stations like (cough cough kroq) but hey I'm glad they are discovered because their work is way to legit to stay underground. Straight up, these fools make magic with their electric stimulated beats and effects. Their artistic lyrics are what makes them unique and different than any other artists out there. I'm sure with their talent, they will be around for awhile so come one, let them electric feel you up ; )

I'll move to Paris, shoot some heroin, and fuck with the stars.

watch their videos, trippy as hell! SERIOUSLY.

The Tellers..

Acoustic Indie at its best. Their album, Hands Full of Ink, is just one of the albums that you never get tired of, even after listening to it a thousand times!! It is also one of those albums that you don't have to skimp through the okay songs to get to your favs because every song is just a simplistically sweet as the next. I listened to Want You Back at least 300 and a half times. Every damn song is catchy as hell and you'll be singing along before you even know the words hah! Their mellow voices combined with intricate strums will definitely give you the fix you need...

cha cha cha check em out!

creative as hell, right?!?

the SUBMARINES...

The Submarines, yes another female and male duo. See, I told you the indie combo of guy-o-gal is totally IN! Driving home from a shitty day at work I turn on Indie 103.1 I heard "You, Me, & The Bourgeoisie" and BAM I was instantly hooked. Their melody and lyrics are very bright and remain strictly enforcing smiles and positivity. Your bound to hear a mixture of soothing melancholy chimes and a whimsical yet somewhat seductive singing that is soothing. Yes, I bet your like shit this girl uses the weirdest adjectives and comparisons but you kinda have to when your trying to describe the way music may sound. I missed out yet again at Detour this year because they preformed there as well as Matt Costa. Anyways just listen to them and enjoy, it perfect morning music you can listen to driving to school or whatnot. Enjoy!

el, Coconut RECORDS

Coconut Records is our beloved Rushmore prince, Jason Schwartzman, love child. Yes, the multi-talented actor can act, sing, and make music! I have been following Coconut Records for a little over a year now and he most definitely is slowly but surely being discovered. His definite pop rock is cheery and pure fun. His happy go-lucky cheesy effects make his music lovable. He deserves an A+ on his imaginative side project that is not just an attempt but a SUCCESS. Listen, listen, listen to coconut records you might just find a few surprising duets thrown in there by Zooey Deshchanel and Kirsten Dunst. Make sure to especially check out Nighttiming, Back to You, West Coast, and Easy Girl!!

Blood Red Shoes

Yes, another duo. I swear female/male duo is coming back but from its sonny and cher days and kickin its way through indie labels left and right. Blood Red Shoes, are very different sounding and encompass the perfect combination of spunk, punk, and disco house. They lyrics are strong, honest, and powerful at times while juggling between power solos. While listening to their album, Box of Secrets, it's no secret that their songs will call for a moderate head bang here and there so prepare yourself hah!

THE KILLS

"...My little tornado, My little hurricano, Last day of magic where were you?" Guy and Gal duo! I am in love with The Kills latest album, Midnight Boom. For some reason their music is sort of sexy, raw, haha yes and I will use the adjective 'savage'. Watch their music video Last Day of Magic and tell me they don't look bad ass! Don't be surprised or alarmed to find your self crotch thrusting along to their intoxicating electronic rock beats. I would say that their music is fuck worthy, excuse my language, yes I said it haha fuck worthy! Listen to Getting Down and Sour Cherry haha and yes they sound just as sexual as their song titles.

"Last Day of Magic" psshhhh wanna mess!

yes, Matt Costa

Matt Costa, Pro skateboarder turned singer/song writer from Huntington Beach. A true piece of work, but in a good way. He is fine as hell and truly talented. His voice is memorizing, and I would kill to have him sing me to sleep. His soft voice could carry any lullaby. Unfortunately I missed out on his performance at Detour in LA a few weekends ago, and I am positive he made many onlookers melt. His folk inspired music is soulful and real. He carries himself in a artist suave manner and shit I ain't gona lie, I'm most definitely sold. You must check his stuff out, seriously your Pitiful if haven't yet haha! Astair, Cigarette Eyes, and Sunshine are my personal faves.

Mr. Pitiful

Cigarette Eyes

The Little Ones

The Little Ones's single is Ordinary Song, but they are anything but ordinary. They bust out upbeat mellow tunes. Every song from their Morning Tide, and Sing Song could fit in perfectly with one of those epic movie scenes where moments are sparked. Their lyrics are smart and poetic. Listen to Cha Cha Cha it is just one of those classic feel good songs that is instantaneously uplifting.

Those Dancing Days

papapaPOP! It's weird, is it possible for a group of best friends to wake up one day and say "Lets make music." If it all was that simple! Those Dancing Days is a cute group who look like they honestly just want to have fun with their music. Their catchy pop beats are contagious and are sure to make any gal smile. They make making music look effortless, fun, and even simplistic. They make me wish I could grab a few gal pals, and a video camera, and sing and dance around in a open field. So check them out they are cute, hip, and surely a reminder of what girl power is all about.

run run!

Sunny Day Sets Fire

Sunny Day Sets Fire are pure fun, honestly! Psychedelic, Indie-pop that is sort of imaginative, creative, and yeah even dreamy in some ways.
