Dear ole Ben Kweller.... Yes, he has been around for awhile, but I can't help but add him to my collection of artists you have to hear because he helps me remain sane with his classic array of sentimental songs. I have to say that I'm not a fan of country music but Benny adds a tad of a soulful country feel to his folk-pop collection of songs that is functional and that I can considerably tolerate and appreciate . His ballad-type songs are uptempo and can be sort of drowned in mushy-gush but you cannot deny their lyrical beauty. Hands down, 'Sundress' and 'Thirteen' are my fave tracks on his self-titled album due to their tender appeal. I have to admit that I don't really care for his new tracks on his new EP "How Ya Lookin' Southbound? Comein..." The EP is a lot more country compared to his old albums but that's just my opinion you be the judge!Saturday, November 8, 2008
